This is a blog detailing my internship at the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens in Monteverde, Costa Rica during the 2013 summer months. Here's to hoping that I'll see a sloth or two.

Oh, I forgot to post pictures of this cutie. A female elephant beetle outside of my hostel in Punta Uva/Puerto Viejo.

Goodbye Costa Rica……… for now

I flew out of San Jose on Saturday, Aug. 10 and arrived home in Southern MD on the afternoon of the 11th. I am glad to be home with my family and friends… but nothing compares to beautiful Costa Rica. I’ll be back for sure.

Anhingas were everywhere! They are swimming birds that will hunt fish by spearing them with their beaks.

Went into Tortuguero National Park by boat. Oh Dios it’s fucking beautiful.

This is a lychee fruit that grows in Costa Rica. They’re called mamones. I saw them occasionally in Monteverde and never tried them, but was offered some in Puerto Viejo. So. Good. I bought a kilo in San Jose.

Pretty much every road in the country is lined with the empty skins of these things. They’re delicious.

I miss them…..

Just watched a couple of green sea turtles lay their eggs, cover them and then crawl back into the Caribbean. Tortuguero is fucking beautiful and I never want to leave this country.

Ughhhhh I am gonna miss this place. I have to come back.
